We hope that you enjoy your visit to the Hemsby Mega Maze and here is some information about our farm. If you want any more information on these crops or anything to do with farm then please ask and we will try and help you.
On our farm we grow the following crops:
Wheat- this all grown for bread making and hopefully if the quality is good enough it should end up in Warburton loaves.
Barley- The acreage of Barley we grow is used for making malt, one of the main ingredients other than water and hops for making beer. If we have the right quality then hopefully it will be used good English Bitter. If we fail and the quality is not good enough then it will probably end up as animal feed for cattle, pigs, sheep or even chickens!
Sugar Beet- All of the sugar beet crop is made in to Silver Spoon sugar by British Sugar. Some of the crop may now be used for making bio fuel which is becoming a bigger market for crops like sugar beet.
Peas- The peas we grow on the farm are all frozen near Lowestoft and are sold into supermarket own label bags but still taste as good! Our new customer Ardo UK is part of a company that freezes over530000T of vegetables and fruit all over Europe.
Salad crops- We have all types of salads on the farm including Iceberg, Little Gem and many speciality crops which have many different coloured leaves. We might also have Celery on the farm which if you eat it will use up more calories in eating than in the food itself!!
